Let’s travel back to the Age of Enlightenment, much to the delight of chocolate lovers, when German and French chocolatiers came up with the idea of filling empty eggshells with melted chocolate (thanks to the arrival of cocoa in Europe for this delicious technique!). It was only later, with advancements in chocolate-making, that eggshells were replaced by solid chocolate molds, making Easter eggs more original and sturdy.

Here’s how it’s made: The eggshell chocolate is a long-standing tradition at Le Petit Duc, almost forgotten because of how meticulous it is to make. Real eggshells are carefully cracked, emptied, washed, sterilized, and then filled with delicious milk praline chocolate… And what a praline chocolate it is!
Our recipe is simply exquisite: hazelnut praline (making up more than half of the recipe), premium milk chocolate, vanilla extract, and that’s it! Nothing complicated, just high-quality ingredients—no additives or preservatives. A recipe loved by chocolate lovers of all ages!

Tip #1: Enjoy the Chocolate Egg Right Away!
Our real eggshell chocolates are incredibly indulgent, so you’ll want to bite right into their smooth praline chocolate filling. For easier peeling, we recommend placing the egg in the refrigerator for a few minutes—the shell will detach more easily when the chocolate isn’t melting between your fingers. A little trick to help you peel and enjoy it faster…
Tip #2: Enjoy the Melted Chocolate Egg
This second option is for the true chocolate lovers (and the less patient ones). Here, no need to peel the shell—you just need one kitchen accessory: an egg cup! Place your eggshell chocolate in the egg cup (hole facing up, of course) and heat it in the microwave for a few seconds. That’s all it takes to transform this real chocolate egg into a rich, creamy delight with crunchy hazelnut pieces. The best part?
